Having your vehicle's oil changed regularly is an important part of regular maintenance. Regularly scheduled oil change can keep your car running smoothly and its engine working properly. While often one of the most easily and frequently overlooked actions in your car’s maintenance, a routine oil change is a key piece to keeping your vehicle running well. A basic oil change, which consists of the draining of the old, contaminated oil from your car, replacing the oil filter, and adding new clean oil.
Cars that last over a decade have one thing in common: preventive maintenance.
Throughout the life of your vehicle, the manufacturer expects you to visit an automotive service center for factory scheduled maintenance. This includes common services like oil changes and tire rotations, as well as component inspections at certain mileage intervals. You may also need to replace certain system parts, like brake pads and rotors, as identified in your owner's manual.
Following your maintenance schedule not only helps you get the longest life from your vehicle, it also keeps your car or truck covered under the factory warranty and extended warranties.

Brake system in your car or truck plays a vital role in keeping your passengers and you safe. The components in the automotive brake system are not designed to last for the life of your vehicle and wear down over time. Some common indications of brake problems may include the appearance of the brake warning light in your dashboard, brake fluid that is either low or dirty, grinding noises, a "spongy" feeling when depressing your brake pad.
Our technicians are trained and certified to service all types of front and rear brake systems. One of our trained car mechanics will provide you with a thorough brake inspection at our service center to make certain both your front and rear brakes are working properly.
During a tune-up, our service staff will check your spark plugs, which are responsible for igniting the gasoline and air mixture that fuels your engine. We can also check your spark plug wires, which transfer voltage created by your spark plug. Old wires can burn out and cause a misfire. We will check the condition of your fuel filters, which help stop debris from reaching your engine. A clogged fuel filter will lead to poor acceleration and poor engine performance. Similarly, we can look at your air filter, which prevents debris from entering the combustion engine. Restricted airflow makes your engine work harder and causes your vehicle to lose horsepower. During our tune-up, we can ensure optimal performance of these parts and more.
The timing belt essentially connects the bottom half of your engine to the top half, driving the camshafts which open the valves at precisely the right moment. In the majority of cars, the timing belt drives the water pump, which replacing can become very pricey. Issues with the timing belt can also cause major internal engine problems and even engine failure, which just adds more and more to the necessary services. Any amount of slack causes a decrease in performance, and in most cases, a broken timing belt will cost you an engine, or at least an expensive repair. If it’s time to replace your timing belt have one of our expert mechanics at Central Auto Service will take a look.
While driving in your vehicle, you expect your air conditioning system to work in top condition at all times to ensure your comfort on the road. Nothing is worse than driving in the heat of the day with a broken air conditioning system. Your vehicle’s air conditioning components are complex and a system failure could be caused by a number of different reasons. There are symptoms to look out for that may indicate your vehicle’s A/C system needs inspection. If you suspect there may be a problem with your A/C components, bring your vehicle into Central Auto Service. Our ASE certified technicians will determine the exact cause of the issue and get your A/C system back to working condition in no time.

Took my second-hand, out-of-state minivan in for an oil change and smog certificate. They were great, even offered me a ride home (which I didn't need). Super polite and helpful, and the price was far less than I expected. Be forewarned though, they get pretty busy, so be sure to call ahead. I most highly recommend these guys. I'm so glad we found them!
Best mechanic shop. I was looking for a good & trustworthy mechanic near me. Friends & families recommended me many places but for some reason my heart told me to go to central auto service Alameda. I am always happy that i followed my heart.
They have very convenient drop off and pick-up services. Sunny & Peter always make me feel at home. They are very welcoming & down-to-earth & are dedicated, professionals & great mechanics with super service, work, and ethics. They are efficient, honesty with high integrity and excellence in their services. They take the time to happily & patiently explain everything that needs to be done. Everytime i call them their response is "bring your car now we will take care of it". They make me feeI they are my family that i am taking my car to my family or home. Five star isn't high enough, I would easily give them a hundred if possible. I recommend everyone to try them. There is no harm in trying, see them & their services by yourselves
I wouldn't bring my truck to anybody else. Sonny and Peter REALLY look out for you. One time I needed an emergency break repair but didn't get around to taking it in. Peter approached me as I was pumping gas. He said, 'Look George, you're a married man with kids and your vehicle is dangerous. Please bring your truck in for repair-I'll do it cheap and make it safe for you.! After that, I'll never take my truck to anybody else. What other mechanic will look after you like that!!! Now we're customers and good friends too. You can't beat their price and their quality. They're honest and look out for you too. They're the best. I'm grateful to have them i'm my neighborhood. One of the things a man needs in life is a trusty auto mechanic.
I had my Honda Pilot Timing Belt and Water changed at Central Auto. Car had 110k miles at the time of service. My pilot has 150k miles and running smooth. The timing belt change was completed on time and I am extremely happy with the service. I take both of my cars to Central auto... a lot cheaper then dealership prices and better service.
I have been going to this shop for over 10 years and always good service and fair prices. Sonny took the time to listen to the noise that my car was making, went on several test drives and resolved the noise issue. My friend she’s in in her 70’s and she made recommendation of this shop in 2004, since then good service.
Central Auto Services is my GO -TO for all my auto needs. Super honest guy with great work ethic. His prices are competitive, and combined with his honesty, it makes for a carefree experience. I just hand the keys off and I know they will take care of me. You usually have to pay a premium for peace of mind, but with these guys it's all inclusive.
